In memory of my Uncle Brent Sponsorship Page

I will be walking half if not the whole Island over 3 days to raise money for this incredible charity.

Please help me raise money for Hospice Care.
Hospice care did an amazing job looking after my uncle. The support the gave my family, especially my mum was amazing through such a difficult time. I praise everyone who works at Hospice for being so kind, I will continue to thank them everyday.

April of last year my Uncle Brent was diagnosed with Cancer, he went to the South Hampton many times for scans and treatment, he went in secret. My mum would ask him why was he kept going south Hampton and Brent continued to to tell my mum it wasn’t anything serious or anything to worry about. He was in denial.

He didn’t tell any family or friends, certainly didn’t tell my mum, his little sister.
It was hard for him to open up about the Cancer as this horrid disease had taken away his Mother. He didn’t want his little sister to worry or even to look after him as he was the ‘big brother’.

Later on in the year my Uncle Brent became more and more frail over time. He ended up in General Hospital with Stage 4 Cancer (Terminal). At this point we still didn’t know what was going on, the doctors couldn’t tell us as it was confidential. Soon enough it hit him that he didn’t have long left at all. He broke down in tears and that was it, “I have stage 4 Cancer”.

That was the moment my family’s life had changed forever, the moment our hearts dropped and we became speechless.

A healthy man, but how has this terrible disease is took you away ever so slowly, your passion and desire drifted away, the smile, your smile, has gone.

The last words you said to me “Your voice, it’s so nice to hear that voice”.

Brent, We love you always.
