Tracey’s London Marathon 2020 Sponsorship Page
I am running the Virgin Money London Marathon for Jersey Hospice Care to help raise vital funds for this amazing charity.
I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 32 (8 tumours found). There was no family history and I had always kept myself fit and well so the diagnosis was a bolt out the blue! I had two young children at the time to think about too. I endured a double mastectomy, full lymph node removal in my arm, double reconstruction, months of chemotherapy and six weeks of radiotherapy in Southampton away from my young family. I have used the amazing services at Hospice to provide me with information and sleeves for Lymphoedema prevention.
Right near the end of my treatment, my dear mum, who had been my rock throughout my treatment, was herself diagnosed with gallbladder cancer and passed away in the loving care of Hospice just six weeks after her diagnosis. The staff at Hospice were truly incredible and I’ll always be eternally grateful for the care and compassion they showed not only my wonderful mum, but also to us as a family, whilst we coped with the shock of the suddenness of our loss.
My dear dad now has incurable, untreatable, late stage bladder cancer and is using their day services to access therapies at their Kings Centre. He also has the amazing palliative care team visit him at home.
I would love to give something back to Hospice to show my eternal gratification for their care and compassion and to support the incredible work they do.
Please help me do this.
